Lookback to 2013 and travel plans for 2014

Looking back, I was featured in Cebu Pacific’s Smile magazine last January 2013

The year 2013 was a defining year for Langyaw.com and this travel blogger. As early as January, I was featured by Smile, the inflight magazine of Cebu Pacific. By March, I won as Best Travel Photoblog (Philippines) in Skyscanner’s Travel Bloscars 2013. April got me featured again, this time, as one of featured travelers in Sunstar Weekend, a regional weekly.

I was also traveling extensively in Mindanao with several trips covering 1828KM, 1036KM and 1000KM. By August, Langyaw.com turned 6 years old and my Schengen Visa arrived in September in time for my first European trip where my photographic work was exhibited in Paris. In October, I was featured as a traveler in Playboy Philippines. I then released Langyaw #06 Alor Setar, my free photo e-magazine. Visited Davao Occidental to complete all 81 Philippine provinces and before the year ended, I traveled to Borneo, part of my 7 memorable places I’ve visited in 2013.

What now 2014?

Of course, there are much to do for the new year! In terms of travel, domestic wise?

I have been to all provinces already but that doesn’t mean I’ve no longer need to explore. One sure thing that will happen on January is my 10 day trip to Batanes. Yes, I’ve been there before but that was ten years ago, a trip for my 30th birthday that was supposed to be celebrated in Vietnam. Alas, bird flu happened. But I wasn’t complaining. Batanes is definitely one of the best destinations in the country!

I’m looking also at some not so explored areas and write about these. In no particular order: Cagayancillo in Palawan, Mapun in Sulu Sea, Sibutu in Tawi-tawi, a revisit of Sulu. Cape San Agustin in Davao Oriental, Balut Island in Sarangani, revisit of Homonhon Island, revisit of Cuyo.

Palanan in Isabela, Camiguin de Babuyanes, Kalinga and Apayao interiors, Mts. Iglit-Baco in Mindoro, Tablas and Sibuyan in Romblon, Southern Leyte. North Catnduanes, Caramoan in Camarines Sur, Biliran, Isla de Gigantes in Iloilo. South and southwestern Negros, Canlaon City, Calamianes (not Coron), Southern Palawan. These are the places that I want to do in 2014 and I hope I will accomplish all these!

International? I still need to visit five ASEAN countries: Brunei, Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar and Indonesia. East Timor is still in the works. I want to go to 4-5 countries with VISA entry and, hope to go back to Europe again.

There are planned changes and offerings in the blog as well of which, it will be incorporated as the year progresses. One thing that I’m definitely addressing are the many backlogs that have been growing. Come to think of it, I’ve been traveling extensively every month of 2013 and I need to catch up.

Well, these are what I am planning for the current year. Of course, there are other things that are better left unwritten but will eventually be done/adapted. Wish me luck and see you along the road.
