A part of my heart is in Iligan City, thus the reason that I’ve been going back there from time to time. Iligan City is small. unlike Cagayan de Oro City up north, there’s not much to go around like malls, unless you want to spend time experiencing the many waterfalls that the city is popular with.
Foodwise, there are several restaurants, cafe’s and diners and I’ve been to several of these. One of the local restaurants that I really love is Gina’s BBQ Express. The Pala-o restaurant is open air, clean, although not that big. During peak hours, especially in the evening, it can be crowded and you have to wait outside for a table to be available. And food is reasonable priced!
But there’s a reason why this restaurant get’s crowded: good food. Well, as it says, Gina’s specializes in barbecued meat and fish with most of the patrons ordering the pork barbecue. It’s cheap, well marinated and tender that you would want to eat more. There’s also grilled pork belly, bangus and other stuff.
But for me? Other than the pork barbecue, I really love the longanisa (sausage)! It’s garlicky and not sweet, unlike those found in Pampanga and Cebu. It really tastes good and can be compared to Italian sausages. It’s something that i always order and look forward to when I eat here.
