10 things I miss in Club Paradise Coron

I just miss traveling when I stay longer than usual here in Makati for work. I miss the beach, interesting food, great places and staycations that my mind drifted to Palawan and now reminiscing my two night stay at Club Paradise in Dimakya Island off Coron. The resort is remote and gives you that feeling of a real staycation, a real vacation away from the trivialities of life, where the breaking waves wake you up in the morning, good food, cozy suites and restful sleep. Just doing nothing but staring into the distance, lounging at one of the seaside chairs or just going for a swim fills your day. Great isn’t it?

And this is the reason why I made this post, listing the ten things I miss about the resort paradise.

Of course, a resort with cozy and homey rooms and spaces!

1 Cozy suites and cabanas, relaxing amenities

One thing that I like about Club Paradise, and the rest of The Discovery Group properties is the really cozy and spacious rooms! I can even spend the whole day just lying on its comfortable bed! At this resort, I got a seaside cabana with its own porch overlooking the sea where I just sit or lie at the hammock and feel the comforting breeze. It’s a home away from home for me.

2 The boat ride to the resort

At first, I thought that Club Paradise is just some remote resort in the island of Busuanga but to my surprise, from the airport, we drove into this jetty and rode a pumpboat! Along the way are spectacular seascapes and islets until you reach Club Paradise in Dimakya Island, met with a quenching drink and a lively welcome of music. That boat ride impresses you of really going to a special and remote location.

3 Islets and spectacular seascapes

Everytime I take the pumpboat from the resort to the jetty or going on an island hopping/Coron tour (via Calamianes Expeditions), I’m always mesmerized with the sight of Malpagalen Islet. Like its twin islet probably a hundred meters away, it is just a rocky outcrop but with a small white sand beach. Guests at the resort can even arrange tours or romantic dinners at these two. At the opposite side, the rocky cliffs and mountains of Busuanga is a sight to behold.

4 The warm welcome

The signature foot bath is a well deserved welcome just as you arrive at your cabana. Soothes one’s feet and I think an apt ritual to prepare you for the beautiful stay ahead. It’s like cleansing the feet, signaling to cleanse off your worries and just enjoy. But what surprised em the most was a framed photo by the bed. Club Paradise go to such lengths to make you as welcome and at home as possible.

5 Animal towels surprise!

When I got back to my room from a day’s island hopping tour of Busuanga, there was a whole menagerie of animals on my bed! Towel animals to be precise! Turtles, seal, elephant, dog and rabbit! Creative staff but will make you smile. Hey, even the Minions loved playing with them!

6 Club Paradise is ideal for birdwatching and wildlife

I love nature and during my high school years, I went birdwatching everytime we go on vacation in my father’s hometown in Tangub City, Misamis Occidental. Here in Club Paradise, with its forest patch and thick vegetation, is ideal for observing birds. There were sunbirds and herons, wild doves and many more. Even while just lounging at the cabana is enough for you to see different species of birds. You can even trek to Eagle’s Point, the highest part of the island for more species of birds and spectacular seascapes. During afternoons at the lagoon, you migh even spot a monitor lizard.

7 The bat colony

What makes Club Paradise unique is that it has it’s own lively bat colony. It might be scary for some but once you get to know that these are flying foxes, which feeds on fruits only, you will enjoy it better. The bats are just noisy at times but harmless and during late afternoons to dusk, you can see them darken the sky as they prepare to depart for other islands to look for ripening fruits to feed on. At close look, many of these flying foxes have a golden back.

8 Sunsets

What can I say. Despite all sunsets are just the same, it does become meaningful when you’re in a special place. At the resort, you just sit on the sand while burying your feet and just gaze into the setting sun. Ponder, connect with your partner, or just enjoy the end of the day.

9 Sumptuous food at Ocean Restaurant

Be it ala carte or at the buffet table, you have lots of food choices. The time I was there, Cajun cuisine was on offer and enjoyed the creations of Chef Bruce. Because it was a five course dinner, I wasn’t able to finish the good dessert as I was already so full. Buffet nights are serenaded al fresco dinners by the beach.

10 And lastly, its the beach!

I love its cool waters of the pristine white beach. Be it at the part of the island where my seaside cabana is, or at the welcome area, or even at the other side, you will surely enjoy the waters. If you’re a diver or snorkeler, you might even find a turtle or even a dugong swimming by! But what I really love? Just waking up in the morning and swim. After the afternoon siesta, swim. Dusk? Just swim to your heart’s content. I don’t mind getting darker complexion as long as I just enjoy the beach.
