Cafe Marco’s treats for the Festive Buffet

There’s always something to look forward to when December comes and for those in the foodie scene, Marco Polo Cebu’s well regarded Cafe Marco’s Festive Buffet is highly anticipated. From 16-23 & 26-30 December, sumptuous Christmas dishes can be enjoyed on top of the standard buffet lunch and dinner spread.

What I love about the festive buffet is the selection of well loved dishes that are popular and familiar to Cebuanos, food that you are sure to find in the noche buena and media noche feast, that, for balikbayans, something nostalgic and for visitors, a great way to know more about Filipino culture.

I’ve always regarded the chicken relleno (also chicken galantina) with much gusto especially during Christmas time. The difficulty of preparing one and the good reward of having a delicious non-dessert food always make the effort worth it. Of course, the honey glazed ham is never absent, as well as the chicken macaroni. In our home, these two are always present and Cafe Marco’s take on the latter is just as good.

The traditional bibinka is highly recommended. Soft, and smooth to the palate, the slices of salted eggs makes this familiar treat a must. And for the kids, there are lots of chocolate desserts and cookies. Of course, for the hotel, the Christmas ensaimada, soft and cheesy brioche with glazed fruits make it a truly wonderful Christmas treat.
