Food is like language, you use it to communicate your passion.
– Chef Giorgio Matera
Observing Chef Giorgio Matera at the kitchen can be interesting. He’s exacting and precise. He can be tough and might raise his voice at times but once you see him in action and taste his wonderful dishes, you will understand why.
Passion is energy and it must be shared, he added. He’s a chef who has been in the food industry since he was 15 with a stellar career working in one of Europe’s top luxury hotels and restaurant chains, serving European and Hollywood celebrities and catering for Italian national events in Japan. He was even awarded as an Ambassador of Italian Food and Culture says a lot about his passion for good Italian food.
That’s what I have realized after that delightful evening of partaking in the new menu of La Piadina, an Italian restaurant with two branches in Metro Manila that he founded with his wife in 1997. The food was so wonderful that I was still thinking about the memorable experience the next few days.
Introduced just last November the new dishes focus on the regional cuisine of Emilia Romana, Piemonte, Toscana and Puglia, where the chef hails from. These savory dishes and a dessert will surely make you appreciate an expanded understanding of Italian cooking.
La Piadina, by the way, uses only fresh ingredients. It has a no commissary, no microwave policy and you are assured that each dish you order is freshly cooked from scratch. Below are the dishes of the new menu.
