Comfort and relaxing in style at a Manila luxury hotel

I was led into the 10th floor of Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila, at their Club Millésime floor with my personal butler in tailcoat leading the way. When I entered the luxury club room, wow, I was in awe at the spaciousness and well designed interior.

I would admit that most of the time, if I’m not spending a few days or weeks in Cebu and Makati, I’m mostly out there, traveling for work and leisure. A constant life of shuttling between places, sometimes, just spending a night in Metro Manila and traveling the next day to another destination can be draining.

When I got a chance to spend a night in Sofitel, Manila’s five star luxury resort hotel, I didn’t let the chance pass. Its time to just stop from traveling, pamper myself and rest. It’s not everyday that I get to stay in a well respected hotel brand property and known for its kind of service and French-Filipino hospitality.

The building itself is quite impressive. Opened in 1976, it was designed by National Artist for Architecture Leandro Locsin with the resort grounds, pool and gardens done by another National Artist for Architecture, Ildefonso Santos. It has hosted heads of state and celebrities and has a spectacular view of the Manila Bay sunset.

I loved the upgraded room given to me. The luxury Club Millésime room is elegant. It has minimalist interiors in muted earth tones that is highly conducive to resting. When I did enter, there was already a welcome fruit tray consisting of wine, pate, pieces of dried fruits and slices of rye bread, a simple but meaningful welcome for guests.

But what you should look forward in Sofitel, other than the legendary service, especially if you’re there for a restful stay is their signature MyBed. It claims as an exclusively Sofitel designed bed that offers a good balance of softness and support. And I couldn’t agree more. It’s really a cozy bed with plush pillows for utmost comfort.

The good thing with staying at the 10th floor? You get exclusive access to the lounge of Club Millésime. It’s an elegantly designed lounge for a more private space.

I really enjoyed my stay at Sofitel Manila. Because this was a well deserved rest, I was just inside the room most of the time except to go to the Club Millésime lounge during meals and snacks. I was just reading a book, worked on some articles and just slept.

Do check out Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila soon.
