One of the many questions that I get asked from time to time is this: Where to stay in Makati that is cheaper than most hotels?

Before, I was at a loss on how to answer this one. I’ve been based in Makati and have been living in a rented space with two other friends. I usually scratch my head. But then, I was able to try Dian Suites in Dian St. which is nearer Taft Avenue.

My Dian Suites (or Dian Place) actually looks more of a condominium within a busy neighborhood with a mix of residential and commercial space. Upon entry, there is a very small space filled up by the front desk and an elevator beside it.

Once you get inside, you will be greeted with a spacious room. In my case, I had a single queen sized bed. Not only that, it’s fully furnished. A beautiful arc lamp that gracefully arch from base to a comfortable level above the bed.

Amenities include the following as quoted from the website:

• Kitchen and basic appliance, e.g. refrigerator, water kettle and microwave oven
• Mini-Bar (Select Units Only)
• Private Toilet and Bath with hot and cold shower and basic toiletries
• 24″ TCL LED TV
• Split-type air-conditioning (1.0hp)
• Dining Tables and Chairs (Select Units Only)
• Double Size Beds with Linens
• Bedroom Cabinet

What I like most? Breakfast is included with the room which is provided by Culasa Comfort Food and Bakeshop just located at the first level of the building. The bed and pillows are really comfortable, not hard on the back or neck. The microwave and refrigerator enables me to store as well as heat food. The rooms are also secure.

Other than the in house restaurant, there are 24 hour shops in the vicinty, cheap carinderias and bakeries, a mall a few blocks away and Amber, a famous restaurant serving good pansit, palabok, barbecues and pichi-pichi is just a few minutes walk. Dian St. is also just one ride to Makati CBD either via jeepney, bus or taxi.

This new breed of accommodations are very welcome. My Dian Suites provide short, much like hotels and inns or long term lease, much like condos at a price that are significantly lower compared to most hotels in Makati City and provides a good deal for business people, travelers or people who needs to stay a few days in transit in Makati.
