Looking for satti in Cebu? Here’s another one!

This is another place to savor Zamboanga City’s satti in Cebu!

I visited Zamboanga City several times over the years, with my last visit in 2019.And I just miss the taste of satti every now and then. Good thing, this famous street food is now in Cebu!

I was in the city last Sunday and saw this FB ad. I messaged them and asked for their open times. Good thing, they were open last Sunday and went there to have my lunch.

What is satti?

Zamboanga City’s satti is a must-try street food with bold flavors. It features skewered beef, chicken, and liver, served with sticky rice cubes called ta’mu, all drenched in a spicy-sweet sauce. With Southeast Asian roots, satti is best enjoyed for breakfast, like at Jimmy’s Satti House in Zamboanga, where its fiery sauce embodies the city’s vibrant culinary heritage. Its popularity brings this dish to other cities and provinces in the Zamboanga region and areas with many Zamboangueños.

Strawberry yoghurt delight

In Cebu, I’ve only tasted Shobe’ST Satti last year. And Satti Flames is my second. I think there’s still another one but have yet to visit it.

A new place for satti in Cebu

Satti Flames & Grill House was opened by Cebu based Zamboanguenos last 30 November. A coffee shop in their home city that serves both coffee and satti inspired it. Dexter, the one I talked to mentioned that the opening of Satti Flames was well received by Zamboanguenos living and working in Cebu. Also, they have plans of opening one in Busay and in Lapulapu where there’s a sizable Muslim population. In addition, they will be expanding their menu offerings in the future and might even include Sulu coffee.

One thing that I really love is the thick, sweet and spicy sauce. It reminds you of the ones in Zamboanga City. The beef skewers are just a few small slices, similar to what you get in that southern city. Just don’t expect it to be very tender. The chicken is good and lends a grilled taste to the dish. I didn’t add egg but I saw some of the diners have one. Returning to the sauce, I loved it so much that I nearly finished it all after eating my ta’mu and meat skewers.

I didn’t try the coffee and when I first saw their yoghurt delight, ordered the strawberry flavor. I thought it was yoghurt ice cream until they called me and handed me my order. The drink is strawberry flavored! LOL! It’s not too sweet than others, which I do like.

If you’re craving for Zamboanga City’s satti, Satti Flames & Grill House is another option in Cebu.

Getting there

Satti Flames & Grill House is tucked inside St Patrick’s Square which is just across the back of St Therese’s College and walking distance to Redemptorist Church and Baseline. Consequently, you might have to walk if you just commute. But it’s not really that far.
