Why I loved my villa stay in Club Paradise Palawan

I love my beach side villa stay at Club Paradise Palawan. Not because it’s free but it’s one of those experiences that you can’t just take for granted. Especially if you’ve been quite busy working for the past month, zipping from one destination to the next and going back. Tight deadlines, copious articles to write and images to edit, all for the sake of earning a living to achieve goals and bills to pay.

And then the opportunity to go on vacation, no, working vacation at some remote island, like, where is Dimakya Island (?) where Club Paradise Palawan is situated. I never got the point of its remoteness until I was whisked to a waiting speedboat at some river some thirty minutes away from Busuanga Island’s lone airport.

Ah, Busuanga. Coron. It has been a while, like seven years passed since I last stepped on its earth and it was again time to reconnect neurons and refresh the faint maps in my memories. But the route to Club Paradise was new, which I realized upon seeing unfamiliar terrain and the ever present rough roads.

The wind and salt sprayed on my face as we headed to Dimakya Island. First a faint trace of green and parts of white in a see of blue slowly emerging into a mysterious but beautiful islet. As we approached its outlying waters of aquamarine sea, the powder white sand was already tempting. Down to the sand. Had a sip of welcome drinks as the soft strains of the guitar and melodic voices wafted in the air, greeted us.

I was a bit overwhelmed. It’s not everyday that I get to a remote island, to a distant resort that unfolds beautifully as you become familiar with it. The resident fruit bats amazed me no end. The architecture of Ocean Restuarant was simple but stunning. As I walked to my villa, the sun was bright but the air was heavy with humidity that when I finally arrived at my assigned beachside villa, I was relieved!

The pristine beach was several meters from my place. But the view was beautiful. You can see different species of birds, in different sizes and colors passing by as you just sit on the native chair or lazily swing at the hammock during mornings and sunset. But as the humidity climbs as the sun goes up, the airconditioned room becomes a refuge, a cozy, comfortable refuge with plush pillows and soft mattresses. I love the wide wooden floorboards and how it creaked and grated with every step. It was wonderfully old fashioned flooring!

And you just sleep. Rest. Pause to remember the busy weeks and revel in the feeling of being pampered. Your own villa. Your own space. Beautiful. Restful. And that is why I just loved my stay at my beach side villa at Club Paradise Palawan.
