My cozy room at Boracay Beach Resort

I just like the symmetry, the calming lights and clean lines

I’ve always looked at Boracay with suspicion, being one huge tourist trap that I don’t always like. However, having written an article in CNN Go last year, I might need to change my mindset as I travel to this (in)famous island in the Visayas.

I was invited by Nenette Graf, as part of media, to cover the Neil Pryde Boracay International Funboard Cup, having written about it in CNN Go last year. The weather was quite depressing as the tail end of the cold front was hovering above the country and Visayas this time of the year was wet and dreary. The seas off Caticlan, jump off point to the fabled sands of Boracay, was also choppy but still navigable as me, the blogger, and two others from print media were being transported and eventually delivered to our respective accommodations.

I was billeted at the Boracay Beach Resort in Station 1. The front desk was unassuming, rather drab to be honest. Its accommodations are a series of beach front suites and garden bungalows at the back of which I was staying at the latter. I really wasn’t expecting much but when I did enter my suite, WOW!

The room at the second floor is quite spacious. It’s an Asian-Mediterranean style architecture that infuses Philippine custom made furnitures and designed by Jeff Aguirre.

The mainly white walls, frosted glass windows plus the soothing overhead lamps and lights was just calming. I never expected it to be this beautiful and cozy. The dark lines of the door frames, the bed’s headboard and wooden portion of the other furniture complements the overall look.

Really, when I first saw this, what came to my mind was just to photograph the room and post about it. That’s how pretty shallow I am. In Cebuano, mabaw ug kalipay.

The room isn’t cheap though. Its 110 euros per night.

Just outside the room and overlooking the ground below is the covered veranda

Just outside the room is the covered veranda with a nice couch with overlooking views of the garden and ground below. This will be my home for the next three days.
