Don’t know where to drink and eat in Naga City? Bora Hut 2 along Peñafrancia Ave. is quite popular for Nagueños who wants to have a good time. Most of the crowd are 20-30s and there are also music performances. Couple that with good food and you get a nice gimik place. It’s been around since 2010 and, as one of the staff told me, the name is inspired by the Boracay type of hut at the center of the al fresco bar and restaurant.
The place is popular for its crispy kangkong that is actually a tempura: kangkong leaves (water spinach) dipped in a batter and fried. It’s lightly salted and instead of the usual Kikkoman dip for tempura, it is paired with vinegar. Although I’m not much of a kangkong eater, the crispy kangkong is actually good.
Bora Hut is also known for its grilled pusit (squid) that’s really tender and a must order dish. The crispy sisig is also good although it looks different because its whitish and have lots of chicharon bits for that crunch. Baked tahong (mussel) is also served and I like its buttery taste plus, a slice of cheese on top!
Although the place is al fresco, hot and humid nights can be uncomfortable. There were no fans and, perhaps because it was a Saturday night when we went there, food was served quite a while. The place do has a nice ambience and touch. An interesting wall mural also greets you at the entrance.
