Maayo Hotel Cebu merienda buffet

This Cebu merienda buffet looks like a steal. That’s what I’ve thought everytime I read about Maayo Hotel’s daily afternoon snack buffet. It was really tempting that I told RJ, my friend, that we should try this. But being a resident of Talisay which is 12 KM south of Cebu City, it’s quite far with the hotel closer to the Marcelo Fernan Bridge than SM City. It’s so out of the way! But then, why not? Is this P250 Cebu merienda buffet worth it? Is…Continue Reading “Is this hotel’s P250 Cebu Merienda Buffet worth the drive?”

10000 roses cafe

Dusk has settled in as the last few rays of the sunset were slowly fading. The city lights of distant Cebu City across the channel were starting to flicker when the lights of a field of 10,000 (LED powered) plastic, white roses turned on. Cheers, oohs and aahs erupted from the slowly growing crowd as almost everyone were trying to get close to the edge of the cordon. Soon, flashes from small cameras and smartphones erupted randomly at the center and edges of the rose…Continue Reading “10000 Roses Cafe beyond the lights in Cebu”

lechon degustacion

Lechon degustacion… my mouth watered as I read the email invite from Bluewater Maribago Beach Resort for lunch. Lechon Diva… read the second part of the invite. Who in his right mind would refuse such an invitation? First, a lechon degustacion doesn’t always happen. It is known as having the best roast pig in the Philippines. And…Continue Reading “Sumptuous lechon degustacion at Bluewater Resorts”

Pia y Damaso

Chef Bamby Sy-Gobio offers ‘subversive’ Filipino cuisine in her Greenbelt 5 Mall restaurant, Pia y Damaso with heirloom dishes and Pinoy food with a twist. Browsing through, a flash of familiarity swept in as the list of names, unlocked from a distant memory, tumbled out: Placido Penitente, Doña Victorina, Kabesang Tales, and that unforgettable and lamentable name, Sisa. It is not a list of characters for a play at a theater somewhere. While based on Jose Rizal’s two landmark novels, the Noli Me Tangere and…Continue Reading “Pia y Damaso, where Jose Rizal’s characters come to life”

HIllary & Andrew Hostel & Restaurant

For affordable and delicious Filipino food in Naga City, Hillary & Andrew Hostel & Restaurant has now taken over the ground floor of what used to be Calle Barlin. And after a busy day working on a photography assignment for an inflight magazine, Alec, the indefatigable head of Arts, Culture and Tourism office of this city and me had dinner there. The atmosphere is still the same as nothing really changed including the interior. Delicious food Served were four delicious dishes. Although, the light wasn’t…Continue Reading “Delicious filipino food in Naga City at H&A Hostel & Restuarant”
