Bulusan volcano up close

The peak of the volcano

Bulusan Volcano in Sorsogon up close
For a brief moment, I was there, staring with my supertelephoto lens her gaping mouth while several thousand feet above the ground. From a plane’s seat.

Mt. Bulusan in Sorsogon, at the southeastern end of Luzon has been in the news last year for its rumblings and eruptions. And for a few times that I’ve been passing Matnog either from Manila or from Allen, Northern Samar, I couldn’t exactly pinpoint its real location.

Until I flew from Catarman, Northern Samar to Manila yesterday, I had the best view of the volcano’s crater. Like Mt. Mayon last year, up close.

It’s crater is not as wide as I expected, but still gaping. If not for the clouds, an almost perfect view of this volcano would have been had. But I’m not complaining.
