It was music to my ears when I was told that my suite has been upgraded. Upgraded? Then the room must be doubly better!

I didn’t really expect it but to be there at the Club Millésime was something. The rooms are comfortably luxurious with its own lounge exclusively for guests at this said floor. Heck, you even have a personal butler at your beck and call ready to make your stay at Sofitel Philippine Plaza, memorable. The hotel is the only five star luxury resort hotel in Manila.

But let’s not be too giddily excited as we can talk about the rooms sooner. We are familiar with the usual fruit trays that can be found in luxury hotels. But at Sofitel Philippine Plaza, especially if your at the 10th floor, be ready to be surprised at the Luxury Room Club Millésime.

When I did enter my room and my personal butler familiarized me with the amenities and privileges, I can’t help but notice one small table near the bedside. Filled with different fruits: apples, Philippine mango, kiwi and grapes. But there’s more. A bottle of Mapu cabernet sauvignon (2011), a small glass container of paté, dried fruits and slices of bread. There’s even a personally signed card from the GM.

This is an unexpected yet surprising welcome

Wow! Dried figs, one of my favorite fruits! This plus dried apricots, slices of rye (?) and chicken paté complete the complementary welcome goods. As I was busy with online stuff in the early evening, thus missing the cocktail and wine tasting at the Club Millésime, one hotel staff brought me a complementary bottle of mango rum liquor and banana bread. How’s that with pampering your guests?

Clockwise from top right: having a drink of the Mapu, banana bread, mango rum liquor and bread with chicken paté. All complementary.
