A budget hotel in Europe, much more a budget hotel in Carcassonne in the Languedoc-Roussillon region of southern France can still be hard on the pocket for an Asian budget traveler. Last September, while stopping through this town for two days, instead of paying 35 euros, it was a miscalculation and bad timing on my part that I didn’t have any option but to get a room for 50 euros per night. But anyway, I just have to charge that to experience.
Hotel Ibis Budget is a budget hotel in Carcassonne at the La Cité branch. This is the former ETAP Hotel and is a well appointed 74-room budget hotel that is along the Avenue du Gen. Leclerc and connects with Trèbes. It has clean, comfortable, basic yet practical rooms. Wifi is fast and reliable. It also includes breakfast of bread, butter, jam and coffee/milk.
While it is good for travelers to stay for the night while in transit, this budget hotel in Carcassonne is far from the town center, if you actually want to explore it. Although there is a bus that passes here, taxis are the easiest to take and the front desk personnel can call one from the town.
I like Hotel Ibis Budget’s simple configuration. The small lobby doubles as a breakfast dining area and I think these kind of budget hotel that is no frills yet clean and comfortable can be a good addition here in the Philippines.
